Are you experiencing duct problems?

How would you know if you were?

Duct issues in your home can appear overnight or slowly worsen over time. Your ducts impact the quality of your air and the efficiency of your HVAC system. Aging, damaged, or ill-fitting ducts can increase your monthly bills, impact your health, and cost your family a great deal of stress.

Contact one of our technicians for an immediate appointment if you notice any of the following signs:

1 – Your HVAC System is Making a Lot of Noise

No one likes a noisy HVAC system. If you have been living with disturbing noises, such as squeaks, rattling, banging, or whistling sounds, your ductwork is likely to blame.

Noises can result from holes in your ductwork, kinks or tangles, blockages, or pests. Before the problem escalates, it is wise to schedule a duct repair or inspection as soon as possible.

2- Your Monthly Bills are Skyrocketing

Have you noticed a dramatic increase in your monthly utility bill? Faulty or worn ductwork increases your utility costs for a couple of reasons. If air is escaping through holes or leaks, more air is required to cool your home. Any blocks in the ductwork will cause the same problem, and force your HVAC system to work harder.

3- Your Home Heats/Cools Unevenly

Are different rooms in your home not cooling or heating as well as others? This may mean there is a block or damage within your ducts.

One way to verify if there is a temperature difference between rooms is to use an indoor thermometer. Or, you can call our team for an inspection. We’ll identify the cause of the uneven temperatures and recommend an appropriate duct repair.

4- Your Home is Dusty

If your home has suddenly become inundated with dust, your ducts may be to blame. Your ducts transport air around your home and with that, they may end up sending dust or debris into various rooms, too.

Dust can get into your ducts through holes or leaks. This is why it is important to receive periodic inspections and stay on top of duct repairs. Worn, aging, or damaged ducts can easily attract dust and spread it throughout your home.

Neglecting or ignoring excess dust is not wise. Dust and debris in your home can lead to allergies, as well as respiratory problems.

5- Your Ductwork is Aging

If you live in an older home, a duct repair may be in your future sooner rather than later.

Ducts are susceptible to aging and wear and tear, especially ductwork that is outdated. Newer models and technologies have made ducts come a long way in recent decades. It is well worth the investment to replace older ducts with a newer system.

To help keep the air in your home clean and protect your family from potentially harmful dust and debris, we recommend scheduling an appointment. We’ll assess the current condition of your ductwork and recommend a replacement or repair that best suits your needs.

6- Your Ducts are Tangled

Your ducts can become blocked, as well as kinked or tangled.

Ducts that are near basements, garages, or attics are particularly susceptible to damage. When ducts become twisted at certain angles, airflow is restricted.

These odd angles can also cause tears or leaks in your ducts.

You may notice an increase in your utility bill or a decrease in airflow if your ducts are kinked. We recommend a duct repair as soon as possible if you notice either of these symptoms.

7- You Notice Debris Around Your Vents

Have you seen black lines or rows of debris accumulating on your walls or around your vents? Dirty ducts may be to blame.

Holes or cracks in your ductwork can let in dust and debris of all kinds. Then, this debris is blown directly into your home. A duct repair can patch up these holes and prevent dust from blowing into each room through your vents.

This problem may not be noticeable right away, as it typically builds up over time. However, as soon as you notice debris around your vents or home, call one of our professionals for a duct repair immediately.

8- You’re Experiencing Respiratory Problems

If you find yourself coughing or sneezing excessively, consider that your ducts may be the cause of your symptoms.

Faulty ductwork lets in more debris if there are holes or cracks present. Pollen, especially, can cause allergies and problems for those that suffer from asthma. To stop these symptoms in their tracks, a quality duct repair can help.

9- You Have Pests or Bug Problems

Uninvited guests can make their way into your duct system, leading to blocks, cracks, or tears. Pest infestations can also cause mold or mildew growth. If you notice an unpleasant odor, strange noises, or a decrease in airflow, there may be rodents or bugs hiding in your ducts.

10- Your Home Smells Moldy

Mold and mildew smells can result from poorly connected ducts. They may also lack insulation due to age or wear and tear.

Mold grows when uneven temperatures occur inside and outside of your ducts. If warm air, for example, travels through cold ducts via cracks or tears, condensation can build up and lead to mold.

Any suspicions of mold should not go unattended. Be sure to schedule a duct repair and inspection at the first sign of mold.
